FAQ’s

Q: What time do we arrive? 
A: Registration is between 4pm – 6pm.  Arrangements can be made to arrive earlier or later if absolutely necessary

Q: Where do we sleep?
A: Each camp varies a bit but campers stay in cabins or lodges usually with bunk beds.  Campers are split by gender and age.  There are chaperones in cabins and in most rooms in the lodges.  If there is no chaperone assigned to a room in a lodge they are in a room next door.   Campers bring sleeping bags, pillows and/or linens.  If you do not have those supplies please let the camp director know and we can provide supplies.

Q: Can campers choose roommates?
A: No,  campers are assigned by gender and age.

Q: Do I need a special bike?
A:  You need a bike that is in good working condition.

Q: How are campers assigned to training groups?
A:  Campers self identify level of ability at registration and we assign groups based on that ability.  We try to keep campers in groups with similar ages and abilities.   We do reassess after the first training session.

Q:  My child is coming to camp, can I volunteer?
A:  Absolutely!  We do need parents to volunteer and chaperone both on and off the bikes.   Please note that parents are not allowed to help in their child’s training group.

Q:  How well chaperoned are the campers when they are not in training sessions?
A:  The program is very scheduled however there are a few slots of free time.  All buildings/activities are chaperoned and campers are not allowed in cabins without an adult.  The camp program operates under state approved adult to youth ratios:

Adult:Youth Ratios
Ages 6-8 1:6
Ages 9 – 12 1:8
Ages 12 – 18 1:10

Q:  Are there scholarships available?
A:  Yes.  Please fill out the application and we will be in touch with you.

Q: Are these camps just for racing?
A:  No.  The camp does provide training on race tactics and strategies but most of all, provides training in bike handling and skills.  The goal is that they are confident on their bike for however they want to use it!

Q: My child has food allergies, do they need to bring their own food?
A:  No.  We do accommodate your child’s needs if we know in advance.  If you would like to send them with their own snacks we can make sure they are put in the kitchen and are accessible when needed.  We do ask that there is no food in the rooms/cabins since we do not want to encourage visiting critters!

Q: Can my child bring their cell phone, ipad, tablet and/or computer?
A: They can but we do not accept any responsibility for the item including charging cords, etc.  Nor can we guarantee wifi access or cell service.   Over the last 3 years, no one has lost an device.  Devices are only allowed to be used during free times.  If a camper uses a device at a group meeting it will be confiscated for the remainder of the meeting.
